    Ku'ikahi Mediation Center hosts the "Finding Solutions, Growing Peace" FREE BROWN BAG LUNCH SERIES. Held monthly on Third Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney at 655 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo. Each month an invited speaker presents a different topic. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session, and meet others interested in "Finding Solutions, Growing Peace." Free and open to the public.     In honor of International Conflict Resolution Day, the public is invited to the free workshop HO'OPONO PONO KE ALA: MAKING RIGHT MORE RIGHT THE PATH. The event takes place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at UH-Hilo Campus Center Room 301. A reception with pupu beings at 4:45 p.m. Parking is free on campus after 4:00 p.m. The evening begins with an introduction by the Rotary Peace Committee on "Hawai'i Nei: Vision of International Peace." The workshop presenter is Kumu Mahealani Kuamo'o-Henry, Hawaiian spirituality teacher and practitioner. To make right more right is to help people release self-limiting thought patterns and emotions and become more connected with their highest selves.     Ku'ikahi Mediation Center--in participation with the Hawai'i County Bar Association (HCBA)--hosts our 13th ANNUAL RECOGNITION DINNER AND AUCTION at Nani Mau Gardens in Hilo. Proceeds support 'Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.' This year Ku'ikahi is giving the 'Peacemaker Award' to Debra Ching Maiava, owner of Ponds Hilo and manager of Ken's House of Pancakes. The HCBA is honoring Charlene Iboshi, retired Prosecuting Attorney for the County of Hawai'i. The buffet features carved roast prime rib of beef, chicken marbella, and macadamia nut crusted fish. Also served are Caesar salad, vegetable rice pilaf, fresh garden grilled vegetable primavera, mashed kabocha squash, dessert, and punch, iced tea, and coffee. This fundraiser provides a significant portion of the funds that Ku'ikahi needs to provide free and low-cost dispute prevention and resolution services in East Hawai'i.     HILO ORCHID SHOW GALA PREVIEW PARTY kicks off the 67th Annual Orchid Show & Sale in Hilo. The "fun"-raiser runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Edith Kanaka'ole Stadium. The evening gala features a generous selection of fine wines,beers on tap, delectable catered food, live music, and orchid viewing and pre-sales. Ticket proceeds benefit Ku'ikahi Mediation Center's cause of peace, and silent auction proceeds benefit Hilo Orchid Society's scholarship fund. Tickets are $75 ($25 of which is tax deductible) and includes a souvenir wine or beer glass. Tickets are available at Ku'ikahi Mediation Center, Day-Lum Rentals, and The Most Irresistible Shop.     As part of our "Tools to Transform Conflict" Training Series, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center presents BASIC MEDIATION TRAINING. Facilitated by Diane Petropulos & Catherine Lampton, this 4-day training takes place from 8:30 pm to 5:00 pm in Hilo. Learn a variety of conflict resolution and prevention techniques in this interactive training--through lecture, group discussion, hands-on exercises, and mediation simulation practice. Whether you want to improve your communication skills or become a volunteer mediator at Ku'ikahi, this training gives you the tools you need to start resolving conflict in peaceful, lasting ways. All backgrounds and personality types are welcome! Tuition is $325 (group discounts and individual needs-based partial scholarships available).
