    As part of its "Tools to Transform Conflict" Training Series, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center presents RUN A GREAT MEETING. Facilitated by Elizabeth Kent, this 2-day workshop takes place from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at Hawai'i Innovation Center at Hilo on 117 Keawe Street. Gain valuable tools to use in meetings to make them as effective as possible, emphasizing the importance of setting agendas and remaining focused. The training is designed to significantly increase the capacity of those who plan, run, and attend meetings. Tuition is $195 and includes lunch (group discounts and partial scholarships available). Facilitated by Andrea Pro, this 2-day workshop takes place on consecutive Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Kea'au Community Center at 16-192 Pili Mua Street. Learn essential skills such as: understanding your conflict style, staying present with intense emotions, refined listening, framing the context, expressing and exploring diverse perspectives, and negotiating shared agreements. Learn the difference between conflict and abuse and how sometimes, in the name of "not taking abuse," we fail to take responsibility for communicating clearly, nurturing relationships and community cohesion, and participating in conflict.     BENEFIT PREVIEW PARTY to kick off the Hilo Orchid Society's 66th Annual Orchid Show & Sale. The gala event runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Edith Kanaka'ole Stadium. The Preview Party features fine wine and beer tasting, catered food, live music, and orchid viewing and pre-sales. Proceeds benefit Ku'ikahi Mediation Center and Hilo Orchid Society's scholarship fund. Tickets are $70 ($25 of which is tax deductible) and includes a souvenir wine or beer glass. Tickets are available at Day-Lum Rentals, The Most Irresistible Shop, Hilo Coffee Mill, and Ku'ikahi Mediation Center. Facilitated by Diane Petropulos & Catherine Lampton, this 4-day training takes place from 8:30 pm to 5:00 pm in Hilo. Learn a variety of conflict resolution and prevention techniques in this interactive training--through lecture, group discussion, hands-on exercises, and mediation simulation practice. Whether you want to improve your communication skills or become a volunteer mediator at Ku'ikahi, this training gives you the tools you need to start resolving conflict in peaceful, lasting ways.     Ku'ikahi Mediation Center - in participation with the Hawai'i County Bar Association - is hosting our 13th ANNUAL RECOGNITION DINNER AND AUCTION at Nani Mau Gardens in Hilo to help fund our non-profit human services agency. This year's event honors: TO BE ANNOUNCED. No-host cocktails are served at 5:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. The buffet features: TO BE ANNOUNCED. Tickets are $95 per person (of which $50 is tax deductible).
