HILO ORCHID SHOW GALA PREVIEW PARTY

On Thursday, July 23, a Preview Party kicks off the 2026 Annual Orchid Show & Sale in Hilo. The “fun”-raiser runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium. The evening gala features a generous selection of fine wines, beers on tap, other hard and soft beverages, delectable catered food, live music, and orchid viewing and pre-sales. Ticket proceeds benefit Ku’ikahi Mediation Center’s cause of peace, and silent auction proceeds benefit Hilo Orchid Society’s scholarship fund. Tickets are $115 (of which $40 is tax deductible) and includes a souvenir wine or beer glass. Tickets are available online below (anytime), in person at The Most Irresistible Shop in Hilo (10 am-5 pm), and at the door (5:30 pm). The menu theme celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday, island style. On the menu are iconic American fried chicken, America’s comfort food: meatloaf, Hamakua mushroom gravy, BBQ pulled pork sliders on Hawaiian sweat bread rolls, buffalo chicken mac and cheese, vegan fried tofu, and vegan baked beans. Other items include cornbread, deviled ham sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, assorted sushi and Any Kine Wontons, and vegan okara (tofu lees) sandwiches.
Salads include: fresh veggies over local hydroponic greens with assorted dressings and Hilo’s Maebo’s One-Ton Chips and sunflower seed salad toppings, island favorite mac and potato salad, Okinawan purple sweet potato salad, and vegan cole slaw.
Pupu include Charcuterie platters with cheeses, cold cuts, crackers, breads, dried fruits, and other delights. And for dessert are fresh seasonal fruits, Hiro’s scrumptious shortbread cookies, and Flour Girl Bakery’s mouthwatering bars and baked goods.
